dont let it fly by you

dont let it fly by you

A Poem by Khatoon Hazara

I'm so far gone, you'll never find me.
Take me apart, just to figure me out,

But...
Don't. I'm scared to let you in.
I'm scared that your scales will tear at my silk skin.
I do not belong in this atmosphere, do you not understand; I am not from here?

Lie to me,
Come on, ease my pain and Lie to me,
Tell me I'm human,
Tell me I'm normal, that I could take anything and everything that's thrown at me,
Tell me it'll all go away,

Save me from this nightmare,
The one inside my head,
No, I don't need anyone,
To stop myself from coming undone,

Hold out your hand,
Let mine interwine with yours,
My fingers snaking around, the delicate sound,
Of you,

let me live, and let me love,
It all comes down to what we're made of,
And who made us,
Who made us?

I wish it was easier,
Strip us down to our core,
It's liberating to feel this way,
No one to see us make mistakes,

All our flaws turn to gold,
Never expecting something more than what we have,
Always raising our hands up to the sky,
Thanking those we love, those who've gone,

Why can't we all live like this,
No toxic gases,
Nothing to fuel the fumes blackening the sky,
Only us,

Only love.
