Sober

Sober

A Poem by AKhaus

Eight months sober and it's still not over.
I want a drink to numb this pain.
Years have passed and it's still the same.
I explode inside with residual pride as I play out the memories I tried to hide.
No more shame, no more shame, I was never to blame.

Stay strong, dear one. Don't let depression or earthly cares push you into giving up the power of being the one in control of this situation. I know that sounds easy to say, but as a former heroin addict, I truly do understand, and I know what kind of strength it requires to say NO. For the sake of your own sanity and well being though, you HAVE to say it. My prayers are with you, dear one. You mustn't give out or give in. Control your own destiny' you have the power.
