Abound!

Abound!

A Poem by Thomas Fitzgerald
"

Fashion has it's own curses!

"
Hugged veins ever tense to breaking with blood,
A chain of sorts to bind one's delicate neck,
Fear of cold winds lend to it's ever presence,
Wonder in silk round tightly on one's deck.

Fears abound through eyes that scold me,
Color plain in sight's for all to vomit acid,
Practice the knot they scream to ever offend,
Place tips near nape and flatten rancid.

Be bold and never cause that thing to tighten,
Brake convention as if you knew how to start,
Bleak times lay ahead as the fall comes knocking,
Laugh it off now come dear boy, up to cart.

Threebruises decorate one's collar in pink and blue,
For linen is unyielding so say all and now me,
Free flowing is the way forward I dare to hope,
This damned scarf, my enemy, never free!

Thank you.
a very twisted interpretation on an article of fashion being harmful (i.e., being used as a noose) instead of enticing...interesting read

ah yes the scarf ..never a proper way to close it ..love your line about the bold ones ..purely stylish flare ..reminds me of the Carly Simon song "Your So Vain" ... "...your scarf it was apricot" :)

Very dramatic. You do everything with style and passion. One question -- did you mean deck, or neck? I am sorry, I am a real drag when it comes to being literal, I admit it, and often little things meant to be plays on words escape me. If it is so, forgive me my faults.

Well not the ending I expected. This poem was entertaining as much as it was quite thought-provoking. Thanks for sharing your work :)

Any Time! Waiting for more of your writing :)
Fashion is indeed a blessing and can be a curse. It can be so creative or destructive, colorful or dull. You bring those to awareness...:)...............

It's a great piece. I am reminded of the neck wear of olden times.
