Shameful!

Shameful!

A Poem by Thomas Fitzgerald
"

A thought, repressed but ever there.

"
Stupidity and innocence,
Not mentioned but thought,
Held face to the wall,
Tried and then fought.

Pain fading just physical,
dreams invaded just fear,
Open eyes seeing him,
Brings the mind to a tear.

Sleepless nights ever here,
Filthy clothes never clean,
Mirror shows the truth,
How could he be so mean?

At least it's all over,
People fumble with stares,
Clothes torn and tires,
But no-one ever cares.

This poem reminds me of my best friend that just kept all her emotions bottled inside herself due to the fact of an abusive boyfriend. One time she opened up to me and basically said in not so many words:
"Sleepless nights ever here,
Filthy clothes never clean,
Mirror shows the truth,
How could he be so mean?"
This poem meant a lot to me! Great work!

I'm is a terrible thing when people blame themselves for the problems that aren't really theirs to own. And even worse when those closest to us don't realize it

This is powerful love, repression is something I can relate to, I wonder why so many people do repress emotion as the stars witness their pain and anguish, no easy answer, great piece xx

Personification and visualization with a lot of determination. " Filthy"? Thats a strong word for such a sensitive poem...
perhaps; unkempt, unwashed, disheveled? Merely my thoughts.
Emotive writing....I like

i like it
good write
i like the way you keep the line simple
it says what is needed to without over saturation of big words
some writers say way too much and end up killing their poems
get in and get out and keep it simple
that always makes for a good read!

Very true, I'll pass your advice on!

sometimes the best way to rid ones self of those thoughts is to not repress, but to express, to face it and go beyond. Repression just serves to keep those darkest thoughts in our periphery.
