Innocent.

Innocent.

A Poem by Thomas Fitzgerald
"

To the former child that was me.

"
Behind a silver door does speak,
An owl of burning ember beaks,
A soft touch feather touches they sight,
Does fly up home alone at night,
The howling wolf you hear his call,
Blood soaked teeth he does fall,
Evil eyes he stops and stares,
Growling first to be oh so fair,
Beast of sky, beast of mount,
Whirl thy wind on every count,
Cracking house on rock tops,
Empty sirens that never stop,
Boneless body that slides and flops,
Hear the innocent heart go pop.

I miss the day of being young. I remember reading the Jack London books. Dreaming of the wildness and freedom. (I was raised in the city of Detroit.) I like the poem. With my 15 years in the Army. It gave me the opportunity to be in the woods and learn to respect the animals. Last line is a old man dream.
"Hear the innocent heart go pop."
A excellent poem.

The title definitely caught my attention, it was nothing as i expected and very nice. the imagery is very clear and the poem really flows well, very dark. A great descriptive story told. Though to be honest I do not understand it when it comes to childhood, though it is not all make believe I find it hard to relate. I loved reading this, Thank You.

What a beautiful imagery. You are such a care free writer, you always speak the truth.I really like that!

third line "they sight" i'm assuming thy but then.

i feel like you blocked this out and buildit up into this perfect square of a natural childhood. splash a little. i'm sorry you're not so innocent. 'pop'
