Love To Me

Love To Me

A Poem by Electric Green Earth Child
"

The ending of a very dangerous relationship more than 3 years ago

"

The metal barbs tear into my heart
Latching on like the claws of a demon
And the more I drift from you and the place I left behind
The more they split apart the flesh within
Anguish

Your blood which became mine rests in my veins
But as of late it seeps through my skin and evaporates
You are no longer Mine

Trying to extract yourself from my soul
Which you planted there with tainted fingers
Your feeling still lingers on
Doomed

Easy to fall back into the hands of temptation
You are the fruit in which I should have never taken
You poisoned my well being
Yet you furthered my seeing
Truth

The silence is breaking through
No longer seeing the world through you
The past cannot be retaken like a photograph
Reason

So your soul finally eludes my being
watch the dust rise as I make my way down the path
Your cold clench on my heart releases
And I am finally set free
My cold clench on your heart releases
… and it hurts to set you free.

It is written in stages like those of a recovering addict in a 12 step program. Very clever intrepretation of recovery from heart break and love. Very strong and relateable.

This is a well crafted poem, very inspring, a total pleasure to read your poetry.

I was actually inspired by Billy Corgan of the Smashing Pumpkins (he is by far one of my favorite poets as well as musician), and his song called "Mayonaise." His style and dark edge made me realize that it was okay to go places like that and express it in words.

That was amazing! Truly inspiring.

Wow. I truly never realized how dark this is.
