The Neighbor

The Neighbor

A Poem by klawrites

The bittersweet reality of happiness

We struggle to recognize it

Because what stands out in the dark

Is, well, darkness itself

Sadness is like an annoying neighbor

When she’s not there, your life continues

Then you inevitably run into her

And her presences in undeniable

Back in full force and you can’t escape

The difference with happiness

Is that she’s more discrete

A faithful benefiter

A calming shower of blissfulness

So, when you’re in your paradise

And doing what lifts you up

Don’t look for the neighbor

Find the friend
