His Voice

The voice of Christ is not merely verbal.

For He speaks in the artistic masterpiece of the sky,

in a pair of innocent child's eyes,

in a musical tune that makes you smile,

in a simple act of kindness,

in the offer of friendship,

in the midst of excruciating pain,

in an incomprehensible wave of peace,

in the glories of autumn,

through the wave of a stranger,

on top of a majestic mountaintop, 

in laughter,

in tears,

in joy,

in pain,

in peace,

in heartache,

in hope,

in the ugly,

in the beautiful,

In everything, 

from the small, insignificant pieces of our lives

to the big, crucial ones,

He is speaking.

Author's Note

I used to lie awake and wonder why I could never verbally hear God speak to me. Was I not quiet enough? Was I thinking too much? Why couldn't I hear Him loud and clear? How come I would talk to Him constantly and not get a verbal answer?

Then it hit me one day.

He was speaking to me. He IS speaking to me. But His voice is not like our human ones. It goes beyond that. He speaks in ways we'd never expect, in ways we take for granted, in ways we often miss on a day-to-day... yet still, beneath it all, He is speaking. All you need to do is be open to embrace His voice. He's speaking all around you. Dare to stop and listen.

^^ Yes I like this, sometimes we do wonder why we don't "hear" Him speak, but I do feel His presence and perhaps see/feel messages from things around me, like when something beautiful comforts my heart and cheers me up, or something else like that. We just need to be opened to it. His beauty and love can be seen anywhere, if one just takes the time to look.
