All We'll Ever Need

A Poem by PaperHearts

Mother's Day.
I'm lying
Wide Awake
in your bed.
It's the only place I really want to be.

You're still
Sound Asleep.
In the land of Dreams
and Make Believe.
I wish I had stayed there for longer.

I press my chest to your back
and wrap my arms around you
So that your arm is lying over mine.
I wonder if you can feel my heart beating?
I listen intently and then match my breathing
To Yours.

I weave my fingers
Through your fingers
And contemplate the reason
Why your hand
Always seems so much warmer
Than Mine?

I pull the covers up
Higher and Higher
In a bid to hide us from the world.
Or perhaps I'm trying to hide the world
From Us?

As I rest my cheek
Against your back
I have but one wish;
I Wish that we could stay like this
Forever.

Because for the first time
I feel like we're no longer two people
But together
As One.

You give me the sun
and you give me the moon.
You give me the stars
and you give me the sea.

But all I need
is You.
I love you and I know
that you love me too.

So screw mothers.
We don't need them.
All We'll Ever Need
Is Each Other.

Author's Note

Hmm, not particularly something that I like. Just having a sleepless night, and needing to vent. I\'d appreciate feedback though. :)
