Sleeping You Away

Sleeping You Away

A Poem by Samantha Koshiol

The night time is rough,
But waking up is the hardest
Facing reality that you're not by my side
Leaves me guarded.
Scarred and brokenhearted.

So when morning comes it seems,
That all night you've been next to me.
Could have swore I felt you breathe..
Once again, you've come to invade my dreams.

Yeah, it tends to happen every night now.
It gets harder and harder as clocks count.

If I could somehow, someway sleep the day away
Pretending you were here
I would never be awake.

The sentiment of aloneness is always great fodder for poetry and you have captured the emptiness of suddenly being alone very, very well. I appreciated this read and thank you for it.
