Lithium

Lithium

A Poem by 陈丽慈

there’s a point where we become lithium,

3rd element, crisis-filled

but you see, he wasn’t just any lithium--

like a shot up in my veins

and suddenly I lose

this feeling of sadness and revelry and

I say he mixes in with the lot

blood concoction--

the chemicals in my head swim.

lithium makes the melancholy bearable

fade into the walls of my head,

i’m not that sad anymore.
