The lonely boy knows
The feelings of the haystack needle
The fear of the pawn at the knees of the king
The cower of the lowly Baltic under the massive Boardwalk
The shadowy edge of night life
The friends who defy loneliness with seeming ease
The schizophrenic cyberspace
The isolation of the ace

The lonely boy wonders
If a man is a man who writes of daffodils
If there is a partner for everyone
If the partner's half a world away
If there is something wrong with him
If lonely girls exist
If love is true or just fictitious
If he's tendered or just vicious

Author's Note

Putting up something like this over twelve years after the fact could get me charged with indecent exposure...

this write has touched my very core. it speaks of the many lessons i have learned from the many nuances of love and life's experiences. it also ponders many of the questions which haunt and plague my very existence. i don't think i have ever read anything more beautiful and profound by your pen...awesome. nice accompanying song by journey, i would like to suggest another by them from the Trial By Fire album "it's not the rain".....enjoy

I remember when it came out...it was a bit of comeback album for them and I remember the reviews being very good, so I'll definitely be looking it up...I do have that greatest hits and Escape on vinyl though ;)

This is a superb poetic treatise of all the questions we need to answer to try to connect.....and how many remain unanswerable, the older we get. I love the form of the poem, with just the last two lines of each stanza rhymed. This is a significant poem, Steve. P.

Ha! Our lonely boy was curious:) Not bad. Curiousity didn't really kill the cat. It led him to a lake and discovered that he was after all a tiger:) On the other hand, knowledge is not measured by the quantity of words spoken but by the quality of thinking. This poem tells a lot about you:D

Haha I haven't changed much in thirteen years have I? Still I find myself asking these questions...I rarely feature old pieces unless I deem them still relevant, and that was the case here...oh well, as Einstein said, imagination is more important than knowledge...this is indeed a personal piece :) xo
