Edge

Edge

A Poem by Nina Love

I knelt upon

The edge of the world

With wind tracing its dance

Through my hair

And the moon illuminating

The fissures within my heart.

My fingers had long been cold,

Face nearly numb.

Only silent slipping tears

Let me know I could still

Feel.

I knelt upon the edge of the world,

With the ground crumblling

Beneath my shaking knees.

I could still feel you

Standing silent

Behind.

Closing my eyes,

I stood and turned,

My fingers tracing your all-too-familiar

Face.

And still,

Those tears who had

A mind of their own

Betrayed me.

I stood upon

The edge of the world

And with your heart

Beating drum taps

In my ears

And your still, solemn face

Between my cold, shaking hands,

I wept

For love.
