Needy

Bring me simple pleasures sir

put bounces in my step

send me smiles and laughter

as if all the dark has left

peer into my broken soul

and lead me to the light

then hold me close safe with love

throughout the lonesome night

So many of us are looking for that hero or that heroine to save us from the loneliness, for that hero or that heroine to mend our many broken parts, and for that hero or that heroine to offer us the simplest of smiles and a chance to laugh... yet seldom do we realize that if everybody was to be their own hero or their own heroine, that... well, we just would not have as much poetry as we do - I sure as Hell have no idea what I would do with my time... :)
