Wishes

A Poem by Wanderess
"

my wishes were to no avail

"
Hi, hello
I plastered on a smile
Then I'm good to go
Hello, goodbye
My day is done
A day full of lies
That I am okay
That I'm doing fine
Cause I really want to stay
To have no one to leave behind

I wished upon
A dying dandelion
That you'd see right through
The masks I wear
But none of you
Ever seemed to care

I wished upon
A burning meteorite
That you would see the cries
I hid beneath the smiles
that never reached my eyes

I wished upon
A dirty old coin
Tossed inside
A dried up wishing well
That you'd listen closely
To the truths
I'd never tell

I wished every minute
Every second of every single day
But all words I ever said
Fell on deaf ears
And the company I have left
Now are lonely salty tears
