Bound in Awkward

Bound in Awkward

A Poem by Leah Maldonado
"

About eye contact/eyes

"

You stood still
As you always do.

Green eyes clear, steady

Looking directly at me
Reflections of the doors behind me.

Before I never saw your eyes.
They were hidden in

The darts. Too fast to catch
For a moment,

A second.

As our faces do their daily dance
Of moving closer
To only have our lips touch.
I notice you don't close your eyes.

The eyes I've never indulged in,

Indulge me.

I stare into them for too long

See too much of you
You flush in red.
Our thoughts intude one anothers for a moment,

One moment.

We timidly kiss.

It softens me.

My hand waves as

My eyes dart out of the way.

I feel yours searching

Reaching.

And I turn to leave.

You leave short after.
