elflock

elflock

A Poem by sea lily

i used to be shy,
and plain.
full of terror and longing
somehow
you saw me
and there on the sofa
we nearly touched.
thighs grazing
eyes hazy and drunk
i was eighteen then.
but fully aware
of the soul behind those
beautiful,
blue eyes
crooked smile.
the legend being
elflock, faerie knots
youthful rebellion
and you were always
just out of reach.
i wonder what
you thought of me then
throwing myself
into the arms of those
more gentle perhaps
but less radiant.
you grew
out of exuberance
and into timidity
world wanderer
while i stayed here and grew
now maybe i feel
stronger than you.
but i still feel the pull.
the shiver
of unfulfilled possibility
we were not ready, then.
maybe you never will be.

maybe i dreamed that you wanted me.
