RegularityA Poem by EveThis is anger at the same person, but also anger at society.
Thank you
It's common courtesy To thank someone when they compliment you Excuse me That's what you say when you cut through a group But what do you say when you cut through a family? How do you respond to the mindless text of who you thought was your father? To the common courtesy he uses When he uses what he taught you To hurt you How do you respond when your whole body aches from his words? From the way being alone makes you feel How he made you feel No one tells you what to do When it really matters When you really need someone listen Instead they give you the rules of etiquette They tell you to stop the drama Keep your chin up and your back straight Oh, and don't forget to smile We're told to keep smiling We're told to ignore the pain But don't give up Don't hold it in How are we supposed to find help When it's rude to be honest When it's just so melodramatic to explain what we're going through Oh right, we're not allowed to find help Because that would make us low That would make us pitiful Maybe that's why I resorted to keeping quiet Maybe that's why they call me shy Because if I were to open my mouth If I were to say something Anything I would be crazy But I refuse to be crazy I refuse to be looked down on So instead I pretend everything is okay I pretend my father still loves me I pretend I'm naive and I don't understand the pain of the real world Just so I can be pitied for being shy But at least I'm not dramatic At least I follow the normal regime of the rest of the world At least I'm liked
