Good Mourning

Good Mourning

A Poem by Lexi Richard

So many fear what comes after life
When we should not fret at all
Just let time take us away
Because you cannot stop the fall

We never see leaves cling to their stem
In hopes of staying green
They peacefully change to orange and brown
Then drift to the unforeseen

A butterfly never dies in vain
Never battles what's meant to be
It never struggles against its fate in hopes of
Sustaining its heartbeat

You never see a bouquet fight
To keep its petals bloomed
The grass clippings know death's not to fear,
It's not the ultimate doom

So why do humans stay alive
As death holds out his hand?
It seems we're the only ones in nature
Who do not understand

its the truth only we fight for life, an old saying is 'everybody wants to go to heaven but nobody wants to die' since life after death is desirable what's the problem with going over there, i'm sure of the after life but steer clear of suicide, that's just bad karma, a truly fantastic write Lexi and very inspiring, thank you :)

Nice to meet you too:)
I love poems which draw you in, make you think, make you contemplate. I loved this poem precisely because of those very reasons. It offers a fresh perspective , a new approach to life and death. I loved the title, it was what drew me in and I'm glad I read this one. Keep writing! =)
