Electric Hearts

they had two electric hearts

beating in time

ticking the days away

living outside the lines

their love was so bittersweet

it was envied by all

we thought they'd last forever

we thought they'd never fall

but in the heat of the summer

they forgot all their smarts

it ended in a beat

of their electrical hearts

and now they must walk alone

she's painfully far away

she walks in a world of white

he in a world of gray

but they are still remembered

two silly youths in love

an innocence so pure

death was even jealous of

The poem sets the charity, the fondness of "love" alight over the heated young hearts of youth. It makes me feel how wonderful the world is with "love" and how bad it could be with and without "love" at the same level of love volume. I enjoyed reading it! Very beautiful poem!

I am so in love with this! "she walks in a world of white / he in a world of gray" and "an innocence so pure / death was even jealous of" are my favorite lines. Where do you find inspiration for all of your poetry? You write so much and it's all so good and I'm lucky to get a poem written in a month.

Thank you so much! For the most part I get my inspiration from branching off of my own emotions or books I've read. I sometimes go months without writing a poem, then I'll get inspiration and I write a few at a time, and then I just wait to publish them on here. I find that forcing myself to write a poem never works, and I've also learned that writing as soon as I wake up or when I'm half asleep makes my best poems.
