What We Can Become

What We Can Become

A Poem by Lexi Richard

Though I am a young,
Naive and innocent one,
I have discovered so much
About what we must become

We mustn't be teachers,
Writers nor priests,
We must be knowledge,
Ideas, and beliefs

We must fill our brains,
Our fragile bones and our veins
We must pride ourselves
On the beauty we contain

We cannot be defined
By our nickels and dimes
We shall pride ourselves
On the pure gold of our minds

Though I am a young,
Naive and innocent one,
I have so much faith
In what we can become

This is very...just strong. It shows a deep sense of maturity and very thoughtful and true! Love this! I love how it has this feeling of "innocence" but also "i'm innocent i see the good and the bad and I know we can overcome."
