Faded Beauty

Faded Beauty

A Poem by Libby

Faded Beauty

She was the prom queen,
Probably still is,
Probably always will be.
It reflects in her even now, in the state she’s in.
Her chipped nails,
Stained lipstick,
Brittle hair,
She wears it all as a shield from the world.
She keeps her shell around her;
She cannot be hurt again.
Her old photographs are barely recognizable,
But that was back when she was
Carefree,
Loving,
Confident.
Still, even after all these years you can detect the
Grace, strength, and beauty
That is no more.
Seeing her this way only makes her more beautiful.
It is sad to think she used to be
A movie star,
And now she’s just a fallen star.
