October Tragedy

October Tragedy

A Poem by EdenHarper
"

a tale for this time of year :)

"

Nails and boards and sweaty brows

Coal black ties and veils enshroud

My life story in my death

Lessons learned not needing breath

In the month of full moons and phantom songs

Gourdy grins and regretful wrongs

I met a young woman, pale and dark

Who’s lips seemed to kiss my then beating heart

Twilight strands upon her head

I, not by advice but feelings led

Top-hats and roses and whispered tales

Somber parades and love that fails

An autumn by my very side

An eternity without my soul for lies

Great in wealth and poor in choice

How quickly blinded by that voice

She left me drained of all my life

Oh, the things one does for their wife

Six feet below but wandering still

A single sad purpose to fulfill

How does one kill one already cold?

A plague of a question for one not so bold

A ghost, a spirit, a fiction of the mind

Cursed never to leave this cruel world behind.
