The Swinging Tree

The Swinging Tree

A Poem by Nami Machae

The noose that swings upon the tree
I stare at it, it bekons me
The woods are quiet not a sound
I step towards the noose
Never to be found

I think of you and how you left
The same old tree the same exact death
The noose is calling for me to come
I no longer walk I have to run
Our initials carved inside the tree
Below the noose
That took you from me
My neck inside the noose today
My legs life up, I'm taken away
Three days later I was found
A smile on my face, not making a sound

Is it wrong of me to think that this poem, yet tragic in circumstance, was romantic to me?! Beautiful Love story.... I know the topic is a strong one, but these are the poems and emotions that last forever!! Love how the first half of the poem is setting up the whole of the back story in a way, and we are preparing to see you go in the second half. I wonder if anyone ever had help from a friend to maybe pull down on the ankles for a quick tug to help their friend out because doing this really takes a lot. Even binding the elbows to the waist and things like that, take planning and a mindset that is out of this world!! Beautiful poem... xoxox -Mark

You have a very natural rhythm well suited to storytelling poems

this gripped my heart with just the first couple of lines. This is fabulous, I usually don't dote over most writing but you really took my breath away here. Fantastic job!

I think it's very powerful and meaningful. It seems the person is heart broken over a lost love and is at peace when they 'join' them. The atmosphere is gloomy and I could feel it. I very much enjoyed it!
