A Twine With Time

A Twine With Time

A Poem by Linda Marie Van Tassell
"

A raven is pensive with prophecy whose passage to promise has yet to break.

"

You didn’t ask me, and I didn’t tell.

A raven was nestled within the pine,

and a cloud rained over my darkened hell

until sunlight spiraled within my spine.

The mottled moment was tinted with rain.

I turned to gently wipe away a tear,

and I bore the weight of the world in vain

in a twine with time when you lingered near.

The blossoming bud of a sky-eyed girl

glistened with a drop of evening dew

and shimmered like the nacre of a pearl

washed in the windswept waves of storm-cloud blue.

I remember your eyes, your smile, your face,

and the black cat clock hanging on the wall

and how music filtered throughout the space.

I could feel myself falling, falling, fall.

The sail was tattered in the tempest’s cry.

The ocean calmed into a starry realm.

Tangled in time: two hearts, one beat, one sigh,

and only one captain manning the helm.

I didn’t ask, and you didn’t tell me.

A jagged branch scribbles upon the lake.

A raven is pensive with prophecy

whose passage to promise has yet to break.

This beautiful piece of your heart penned to page simply oozes the scent of romance upon the winds as a fragrance that stirs the mind and inspires the heart to heights unimaginable ... Yet, they are, imagined, savored, with every wisp speaking of hope ... It has been my extreme pleasure to ponder upon your words ...

I am a big Poe fan and love the poem the raven. I always thought the popular symbolism in the poem was wrong. So many thought death, I think it represents a watcher over someone who is down and out.

With that said I really love this poem and your use of the raven. To be honest one of the most brilliant poems I have read in a while.

Dear Linda, it's been such a long time since you stepped into the cafe.. but. your writing is still as finely laid and alluring as ever was. I still wonder at your perfect meter, the way it naturally tells the intended story. Wonderful... as is the music.. brilliantly found.

Your words are ethereal and haunting, slightly sad. Your clever use of the image and music to create an even greater immersion is inspiring.
