I held Seths hand happily. We stopped and Kyle and Aurora got in the car. I slid closer to Seth. He must’ve felt the tension because he slid his arm around me and smiled at Kyle.

 

“Hey Lexie, did I show you my ring?” Aurora said with a slimy smile.

 

'Hey Aurora did I show you my fist?' I thought as I pictured myself punching her. The boys erupted in laughter, all but Kyle that is. I turned around and put on a fake smile, holding in my laughter.

 

“Uh no” I said between giggles “Let me see” I said

 

She seemed surprised at my receptiveness. She held out her hand. I stared at the tiny square diamond on her finger

 

“Cool.” I said

 

She pulled her hand back and I turned around smiling. Seth was still laughing and I nudged him.

 

“What's so funny guys?” Aurora said annoyed.

 

“Nothing” Seth choked out.

 

She rolled her eyes. I could tell it was killing her.

 

Seth leaned in close to me and whispered

 

“You should let me get you one of those” he smiled

 

My heart raced a little.

 

“What's that supposed to mean” I said smiling

 

he shrugged playfully

 

“Dunno” He said with a coy smile.

 

I shook my head and laid my head on his shoulder and fell asleep.

 

I started dreaming of that night at prom. I was running and running but the footsteps kept up. I could hear the mans creepy laugh surrounding me and I kept running. I burst through my front door only to find myself back in the middle of the street. A man in a dark hood was about thirty feet from me. He beckoned to me.

 

“Lexie” He said in his deep raspy voice. “come to me” a long white finger called me to him

 

I screamed and ran but he was in front of me again

 

“Now now pet, don’t you run from me.” He said laughing “You cant escape your fate Lexie. You think you’re above the mortal coil? Oh pet! Silly pet, you are such a stupid human. Now come with me.” He said reaching for my wrists

 

“No! No! Let go!” I screamed.

 

He dragged me to him and forced my head aside revealing my neck. He got closer and closer, I could feel his hot breath inches from my skin.

 

“Help!” I screamed

 

“Lexie! Lexie wake up!” Seth was shaking me

 

I sat up “Help! Please help me!” I screamed

 

“Lexie what is it? Whats wrong?” he said softly

 

" The man! The man in the cloak!” I sobbed into his chest.

He rubbed soothing circles into my back. He looked at Tyson.

 

“He’s getting stronger Tyson.” He said

 

Tyson pushed the petal and the needle drifted towards one hundred and ten. We sped to a house in the middle of the woods.

 

“Where are we” I said

 

“A safe house. We’re far from population.” Tyson said.

 

We walked inside and it was cozy.

 

“Ill take your bag to our room” Seth said

 

“Our room?”  I said

 

“Unless you’d rather room with Aurora?” he said raising an eyebrow

 

“no no! you’re just fine” I smiled

 

He walked into a room across the house.

 

I sat down on the couch.

 

“Lex, what did this man look like” Tyson said

 

“I, I don’t know. He had a hood and he was dark.” I said

 

“Lex, close your eyes. I want you to picture this man. Give me your hands”Tyson took my hands and closed his eyes.

 

I pictured the man and what happened in the dream.

 

Tyson dropped my hands. He looked upset.

 

“What” I said

 

“Nothing, I couldn’t see him either. That voice. I know that voice” He said

 

“You do? Because I don’t” I said annoyed.

 

“Lexie you should get some rest.” Tyson said.

 

I walked to my room where Seth was.

 

“Hey” He said.

 

There was only one bed.

 

He saw me eyeing the single queen bed

 

“I can sleep on the floor-“ he said

 

“No, don’t be silly. I don’t mind” I said

 

He smiled

 

“Tyson said I should sleep, but how can i? That creep is invading my dreams” I said

 

“Don’t worry lexie, I’ll watch over your dreams tonight. If he comes I’ll wake you up and be here to save you” He smiled

 

I smiled and laid in bed next to him. I put my head on his chest and closed my eyes and tried my best to sleep.
