I sat curled up in the bed. With all the glass windows around me I felt so vulnerable. I leaned back on the bed and tried to breathe. I knew Seth would be back for me soon. I looked out the window, waiting for a sign of the guys.

 

Suddenly I saw a dark figure slowly pass the window. He stopped and turned and stared right at me. I saw his wicked smile. He slowly raised a finger and drew a circle in the glass. I didn’t realize what he was doing until I saw the small outline of a door against that wall. He pushed the circle and the glass fell through. He reached in and opened the door from the inside. I was frozen. I wanted to scream but I’d lost my breath.

 

“Pet.” The voice said.

 

“S-s-s-stay away f-f-f-f-from me” I stammered out

 

“Stay away from me” He mocked “Pet you used to be so receptive” He said.

 

I don’t know what he meant by that.

 

He started to saunter towards me. I was frozen. A long white hand reached for me. A single tear slid down my cheek.

 

“Its over now pet” He said touching my tear. His hands were cold.

 

“Help” I choked out

 

He put a finger to my lips.

 

“Sh sh sh pet.” He said

 

I pushed him away

 

“Get away from me!” I yelled

 

He backhanded me. I felt his knuckles collide with my face. I felt like my entire face shattered. I fell to the floor. He stood over me. I curled into a ball.

 

“Lexie look out!” I heard Tysons voice from behind me.

 

I rolled over and looked up to see Matt’s full body leaping on to the cloaked man. He held him there and they fought. Kyle grabbed my arm and yanked me out of the room. I saw Tyson jump in on the man just as Kyle yanked me out.

 

Tyson ran in the room.

 

“He’s gone. He escaped. I’m sorry Lexie we tried” Tyson said out of breath.

 

Matt came in nursing a flesh wound on his arm.

 

“Matt you’re hurt” I said. I noticed it hurt to talk

 

“Its just a scratch” he said

 

I tied a shirt around his arm.

 

“Demons heal fast, I’ll be okay” He smiled.

 

He looked concerned at me.

 

“Lexie your face” He said reaching for me

 

I turned away

 

“Lexie we need to get you to a hospital” Tyson said “You’re already black and blue”

 

Seth and James ran in the room.

 

“What happened” Seth said looking at my face  “Oh no no no Lexie” He knelt next to me.

 

“Who did this” James said

 

“The cloaked man” I choked out , My jaw was aching.

 

“What? how?” He said “We were on his tail the whole time” He said

 

“It was a decoy James” Tyson said.

 

“Good job” Aurora piped in

 

“And we left Lexie unprotected. God how could we be so stupid.” Seth said angrily

 

“We have to take her to a hospital” Matt said.

 

“Ugh humans are so fragile” Aurora said.

 

The boys ignored her.

 

Seth picked me up and cradled me in his arms. We got into the car and drove to the hospital.

 

“Hello How may I help you sir” A nurse in purple scrubs said smiling at Tyson.

 

“Yes, our friend is hurt. We think her jaw could be broken.” Tyson said smoothly

 

Seth brought me forward. She gasped

 

“Oh dear. Come with me. Come on” She ushered me to the back. “You boys will have to wait out here”

 

She sat me down on the table and I laid back. She gingerly touched my cheek.  I tried to concentrate on her fire red spiky hair and the deep aging creases in her face. Her nametag read Dr. Annie.

 

“Oh deary me, Looks like a broken jaw bone and possibly a broken cheek bone. My dearest what happened to you.” She said as she set a heavy lead sheet on my chest.

 

“I um” I started

 

She angled the x ray machine at my face.

 

“I fell.” I finished. I was a horrible liar.

 

“Uh huh. “ She said and took another picture “And does this, falling, happen often” She said looking at me. I could tell she didn’t buy my story at all.

 

“No, I just was in a dark room and I didn’t see the chair I fell over” I said. My jaw felt like it would fall off

 

“Well you know, if this falling, increases, you can go to a support group. Where other girls have experienced, falling” She said. I knew she thought one of the boys was beating me.

 

“Trust me, it wont happen again.” I said.

 

“Alright well I’m going to give you a local anesthetic in your cheek and I’m going to reset your jaw okay honey?” she said

 

I gulped. I hated needles with a  passion.

 

“C-c-c-can I” I started.

 

I began to cry heavily.

 

“Shh shh dear, now now don’t cry. Which one of your little friends should I bring in here to hold your hand.” She said smiling patting my back.

 

“Seth please” I said still crying

 

She walked out of the room.

 

A few moments later she walked in with Seth..

 

“Hey why are you crying babe” He said coming to my side and holding my hand

 

“Needles” I sobbed.

 

Seth took my hands and held them. The nurse walked up and smiled

 

“This will only take a second.” She said

 

She inserted the needle into my face and I felt a numbness wash over it. She took her hand and pushed on my jaw. I heard a crack and I felt my jaw move. She pushed on my cheek and I heard another pop.

 

“There, all better. Now you will get some pain meds and you need to ice your face okay deary” She said.

 

Seth walked me out and Tyson held up a little white bag with pills in it.

 

“I got your meds hon” He said smiling

 

Seth held my hand and took me to the car again. The nurse had wrapped ice to my face so I was shivering.

 

“We can take it off in nineteen minutes honey” He said. He kissed my other cheek and I smiled.

 

“Ugh I’m gonna be sick” Aurora said

 

I turned and flipped her off. The boys erupted with laughter.

 

“Kyle will you let her treat me like that” She whined

 

“Lexie will you calm down. God you don’t have to be rude.” Kyle snapped at me.

 

I just looked at him and rolled my eyes. Seth leaned in and kissed my swollen lips. I tried not to laugh because it hurt and he smiled at me. I closed  my eyes to sleep on the car ride home.

Why is Kyle acting like such a jerk? Gosh, I'm starting not to like him as much as I like Seth!! He's sweet. I really like how you make your characters so dynamic. It's what makes this story SOOOOOOOOO interesting. :) Can't wait for more!!!!
