I woke up confused. I creaked my eyes open and looked around.

‘Where am I?’ I thought to myself

I felt my jaw aching and the past week came roaring back.

‘Oh yeah’ I thought

I searched for my phone.  I found it buried in my back pocket and I checked the time. It was 8 pm. I groaned and rolled over trying to sleep again. It was no use. My back and jaw ached. I sat up.

“Morning sleepy head” Seth said.

I jumped at the sound of his voice.

“Whoa, easy there tiger” he laughed and whispered.

“Sorry I didn’t expect to see you there” I said

“Well I heard your thoughts get more coherent and I figured you were awake” he said with a smile.

I laughed.

He gingerly stroked my jaw. He had a pained look on his face and I could tell he was deep in his thoughts.

“I’m really okay” I said smiling

He nodded, still buried in his mind.

“Sometimes I wish I could read your thoughts too” I said

“Well then you’d be some sort of freak and we just couldn’t have that now can we” he said

I gave him the evil eye.

“I kid I kid” he said throwing up his hands and laughing.

“Ladies and gentlemen, we’re going to be landing shortly. Please return your seat to the upright position and fasten your seatbelts” the flight attendant said over the intercom. The cabin lights flicked on.

I stretched my arms upward. I noticed the boys all opened their eyes and stretched like everyone else. It was cute how they wanted to fit in.

I waived at Matt and he smiled.

“How’d you sleep” Tyson said. He smiled at me.

 

“Pretty decent, though my jaw is killing me” I whined

“Boo hoo, stop whining” Aurora chimed in.

“Oh joy, I was wondering when you’d wake up.” I rolled my eyes.

She yawned.

“Sorry I’m a little cranky, Kyle and I were up late so we didn’t get much sleep” she winked at me.

Kyle was looking out the window.

“Right Kyle?”” she said

“What?” he joined the conversation confused.

She just smiled at me.

“Aurora could you just put a cork in it for like, two minutes bro. You are really on my last nerve” James said annoyed.

“James honey, in order to be annoyed you have to have a brain and we all know you don’t possess one” She said.

“Alright you two, can it” Tyson said. “You’re going to cause a scene that we don’t need”

Aurora cuddled into Kyle, I picked at my jeans.

I felt the plane shudder as it landed. When it came to a stop we all stood up and slowly filed off the plane. Seth slung my bag over his shoulder.

We walked through the airport and out the doors. We were in Rome and it was amazing. Tyson led us around the corner to where a car was parked in an alley. It was a suburban. We all piled in.

“Where’d you get the wheels” I joked.

“A friend of mine left it here for us. I told him we were coming. We’re staying at his summer home” he said

“Shouldn’t we be like, low profile” Aurora said. “I mean after all the human could get hurt and then we’d never hear the end of it” she rolled her eyes.

“The house is in the hills” Tyson said.

We drove up windy roads until we came to a huge house. We got out and walked up the long driveway to the door. When we went inside it was even more immaculate than the outside. Every room was perfectly furnished and tidy.

“C’mon Lexie, I’ll show you to our room” Seth said smiling

We all walked upstairs and went into a long hall with 7 rooms. Seth opened a pearl white door and led me into a room with a queen sized canopy bed. The walls were crimson like the bedding, and the canopy was a sheer white. The carpet was a light cream color. Seth unpacked our stuff into an old cherry wood dresser and smiled.

“what do you think?” he said

“It’s gorgeous!” I gasped.

He smiled.

“They have a pool!” Matt burst into the room

“Alright!” I said.

We changed into our bathing suits and dove into the enormous pool. I playfully splashed Tyson and we got into a splashing war. Matt and I joined forces when James started helping  Tyson. Seth joined my side and the war raged on.

“Bow to me! I am queen of the water” I joked as I launched another handful of water into Tysons face.

“Ha! I laugh at your attempts!” He said. James and Tyson began creating waves. “See our waves of fury!” they laughed.

We all broke into a fit of laughter.

“C’mon Kyle! Join our side! We want you, for the army” Matt said in his best Uncle Sam voice.

We all laughed.

“Nah, Uncle Sam wasn’t all that convincing. He was actually the town drunk who happened to be very vocal.” Matt said

I shook my head.

“I’ll pass” Kyle said

“See! I rest my case. Poor old unconvincing Uncle Sam.” Matt joked.

“Why don’t you want to play” I said. It was the first thing I’d said to Kyle in what seemed like years.

“We’re fine in the hot tub, but thanks.” Aurora said sarcastically.

“I was talking to Kyle, but thanks” I mocked her.

“You know, if she dies in battle, I wouldn’t be upset” James murmured.

 “James” Tyson laughed “Be nice”

“What? Don’t tell me you all disagree” he smiled.

“I sure don’t” I said smiling.

Seth massaged my shoulders.

“Can I get you anything?” he whispered in my ear.

“No, I’m okay” I smiled.

He kissed my cheek. We looked at each other smiling. Just then a wave came over us.

“Behave you two” Tyson teased.

I wiped the water from my eyes.

“You realize this means war” I said in my best daffy duck voice.

The water battle raged on for another hour until we were all tired out

We got out and Seth and I walked up the stairs to our room.

“Whew, who knew splashing could be such a workout” I said laughing

“Apparently not us” he said smiling.
