Trolls and Hackers (completely different things)

Trolls and Hackers (completely different things)

A Story by Davidgeo

Hacking, yeah, it happens to me frequently ( I have disgruntled fans).  Here more than anywhere else and that probably has something to do with this site rarely being updated by it's admins.   A nice lady recently wrote an article equating hacking with trolling and she was quite mistaken with how she defined things.  With definitions so simplified and at times completely false on an otherwise timely and justified story... I thought I'd help clear things up a little bit to enhance her message.

I'm a troll, I'm good at f*****g with people.  But I'm not full on immoral.  Of course it amuses me to troll but it's not fun for me if it's completely malicious.   Indeed, things have turned out malicious in the past from myself being completely wrong. I am completely in the crosshairs of justified criticism and, believe it or not, my own personal regret.  I know that, I accept it.  It's worth it to me, I believe I am a net positive contributor.

Hacking can have similar motivations but it's a completely different type of animal and it manifests itself in completely different ways.  Some hackers are trying to affect change or expose hypocrisy or injustice, others are purely malicious or looking for financial gain.  But it's an entirely different ball game from mere 'trolling', for one, it's highly f*****g illegal, even just as a joke, it's a felony.  In can be prosecuted internationally and in America you WILL be dealing with the FBI if you get busted.  Not too mention hacking is extremely technically difficult and requires a unique skill set most of us just don't have.  Much is at risk when hacking into a website or email account or whatever.  Your individual freedom being one of those things at risk.

Most trolls demand anonymity so they can be as awful as they wanna be, those are the one's you ignore outright - they are purely malicious and usually very simple minded.  Some trolls do not demand such a thing however, they believe in what they say (mostly) and they are not afraid to stand by what they say.  Don't ignore that type, they can be very helpful and entertaining.  Trolling, like hacking, can also be utilized as a method for change.... but usually it's just a way to shake things up, to keep it interesting, or even expose horrible people (you know who you are).  But it is limited and not illegal.  (unless you are sexually harassing someone, extorting or threatening physical harm --- you two f**k stains know who you are.... old thing and phrase girl)

Do not equate hacking with trolling.....  it's pure ignorance to do that.  Don't be ignorant, don't mislabel things, change your password at least once a month (don't use the word 'password' as your password) and don't be frightened... this is an imaginary place.... (FYI- if  you keep your financial information with your poetry, you're an irrational idiot anyway).

In summation -  most trolls are way too stupid to be hackers, most hackers have way to much to lose to be simple trolls or use their real name.  They are not at all the same thing and if you don't understand the definitions you might want to hold off writing an entire story about it (however warranted your story may be ---  it's erroneous and should be corrected, if you were handing that in to me you would get a D-------)

Yes trolls and hackers are two different things - what I have always wanted to know - and you yourself have tried to mess with my head in the past (but my head be way too strong for that kind of 'at a distance rudeness) is what is the inspiration behind trying to get reaction from people in such a nasty way. I mean, we are online here, you don't actually know people in the real, you don't know how fragile they can be and yet geez I have seen you say some motherfucking awful s**t - tell me why? Do you actually believe that you are better than everyone else? Because, if you are, aren't you wasting your precious time here.

From what I have seen, and I ain't seen much, you have toned down a bit - why? Have you seen the love light?

I am not going out of my way to cause an argument here - no no no - I just want to know why you have done what you have done in the past?

For hackers, it's a game, I reckon it must become addictive, each time they hack further the stakes get raised. And yes, now with the group of 'Anonymous' folk out there, it seems like they are fighting a purpose. The good against the evil of the world. They choose to expose what governments etc wish to keep hidden from the public eye. Trolls just like to mess with individuals heads ... there no good against evil there, it's just plain childlike :)

My limited interface with trolls has always been on the social networking sites wherein someone is usually engaged in bowling for the brainless on some level or another. My understanding of hacking has always been that hackers aren't after your pretty little ego - they want information, money, a statement to be made. But there are exceptions.
WC attracts a lot of trolls and a few hackers which surprises me because - why? What's here to hack? As for trolls. If it is an imaginary site, why freak over a troll or two? Better some faceless noob on a social site tell you you suck than a real life editor.
