La Cosa Nostra

La Cosa Nostra

A Poem by Davidgeo
"

.

"

singular and perfect as the end

no man knows

distilling

webs will spin

stunning men by way of tales

preparing fickle natures

by understating overwhelming dangers

very loudly

far away and then closer to us

so sold to us, our little thing

then told to us

things;

 many things

nearer then slower now it's what seems

to be coming now upon us, all of us

every single one of us

singular and perfect in our ends

that no man knows

until they stop

This one feels much more obscure so I can't say I understand it with my linear mind. But I like phrases like "understating overwhelming dangers very loudly, far away then closer to us so sold to us" and "nearer then slower now it's what seems to be coming now upon us"- in these lines I feel the quality of impending danger that we could have been warned about, were it not for the very loud declaration that there is no danger. Beyond fear, this feels like a prophet's voice showing the ending, though men will not know it until it is upon them. Maybe I got this all wrong, but what I feel is the inevitable spoken, our surprise ending not anticipated. (Didn't watch the video though . . .) interesting and thought-provoking read.
