Hollow Conscious

Hollow Conscious

A Poem by Davidgeo
"

.

"

we are all hopeless romantics

forming a mind

full of other people's s**t

twisted

by whatever narrative you tell yourself

about yourself... your "identity"

(about myself...   my "identity")

you are this, I am that, good at this, bad at that

remembered long... few will ever be

in the face of reality everyday is unsure

(and more so with each day passing)

and most meaning is very very fleeting

(and eventually becoming)

so very truly superficial

(you are not special)

as most of us are simple

simply proving existence

so it is then a good thing for us, that, the greatest of us never truly die

they simply become the best parts of us

(our best narratives)

a lovely soundtrack inside an ugly everyday existence

(this is the evolution of culture)

for the likes of me and the likes of you

(these are our stories)

for the everyday irrelevance of being a very regular human

is muted quite a bit by this wonderful fact

(don't you think?)

don't you think

"An old friend once told me something that gave me comfort. Something he had read. He said that Mozart, Beethoven and Chopin never died, they simply became music."  -  Dr. Robert Ford

Becoming music after death, in Mozart's, Beethoven's and Chopin's case, is better that finding the philosopher's stone.
This reminds me of the movie '' Nocturnal Animals''. Raw, like a band aid being ripped of with some skin and flesh. We must tell good narratives to ourselves, for we are eager to believe them.
the excerpt:

''the greatest of us never truly die

they simply become the best parts of us
(our best narratives)
a lovely soundtrack inside an ugly everyday existence''

is very truthful. People that are great, and their great work, may this be music, or writing, or music, they are points of reference when shaping one's character.

The last few lines, the message shared by your respected friend, just completely blew me away, Batman. The legacy of what we leave behind. Have always considered myself simple... Just so human. Have always felt that it is others in my life, shared experiences and even those journeyed alone that adds this sense of magic. Making something ordinary feel extraordinary. "Remembered long... Few will not be..." So incredibly true. Yet another amazing piece from you with that unforgettable closing touch.
