Diversity of Outcome

. this is NOT a poem that has ANYTHING to do with economics .

devaluing meaning
is no fundamental remedy
equality of outcome
must never become inevitable
embracing what's wrong
sterile like a surgeon
instead of placing the blame
biased like a politician
              instilling arbitrary change
              blowing as the wind does
   very few things can save us. . . 
competing as friends
opens every single continent

striving for excellence

opens everything within us

              where anything can happen

with a diversity of outcome

              where it's all on the table

for anyone to seize

He will go down as one of the greatest intellectuals of his generation I think. Listening to him will show you the difference between intelligence and wisdom. I'm glad there's another fan of his on this site.

We are still some distance away from a world stage where we will "compete as friends" The power of the collective human intellect is beyond imaginable. But we being what we are. We have to limit ourselves.

I do not agree with that. While it may be fine for the status quo to limit possibilities it is stifling in regard to true progress. The real reason society "limits" itself is to control resources and to control people for reasons not exactly in line with the public's welfare but more in line with maintaining the top 10% of the population's lifestyle. Public welfare, is not now nor has it been for some time, the top concern for almost any major world power; it only looks that way on the surface to keep the majority limited, fractured, and relatively powerless.

Elon Musk is a good example of a person we would see more of... that guy does s**t that truly raises the bar for what the human intellect can be expected of in the future. Most people don't even know where he's from... he truly is a citizen of the world in my mind (he was born in S Africa and educated in the US). Sadly, there are probably many, many more minds like his that will never be realized due to the limiting nature of western society.

I agree about Elon Musk being an innovator ahead of times yet wasn't he already from the top 10% of the population? So perhaps he had a starting advantage. Then again, is socialism an answer to our problems? Not sure...

His mom was a dietician and his dad was an electromechanical engineer. While he didn't grow up poor he wasn't from anywhere near the wealth he later made for himself. The dude was a recognized genius at age 10. Anyway, why people even consider socialism still is beyond me... how many times throughout history does it have to devolve into atrocity and immoral depersonalization before people realize that it is not a realistic option to govern a large population? No single style of governance has been responsible for more state sanctioned murder or more inefficient governance in the history of mankind. Hitler was true evil... but Stalin, Lennon and Khrushchev are responsible for exponentially more death and destruction. Far, far, far more... I recommend a book called " The Gulag Archipelago" by Alexsandr Solzhenitsyn. Read that thing if you want to hear first hand about why socialism and communism only slow human progress and increase human suffering en masse.

I'm pretty sure Putin just thinks it's funny to f**k with America by appearing to destabilize our culture and electoral system. I say 'appear' because only about 20 percent of the population is affected one way or the other (also, not a lot of people actually vote in America).... it just looks a lot worse because of how vocal they are about their irrational political beliefs and how eager the news media is to cover the hot button topics as if they were real issues. It's kinda like a soap opera but the stars of the show don't know it's not real yet. Personally, I think it's f*****g hilarious. Trump is too disorganized and childish to ever actually accomplish anything... so I just sit back and laugh. As incompetent as he is I have to say that at least he's entertaining. I don't think he's going to last much longer, he's either going to have a heart attack or be removed from office for cause. Which is actually really, really bad because his vice president (mike pence) is not only competent but also an extremely horrible person. He would set back my countries civil rights, religious liberty and free speech advancements by decades.
