Desserts of Fire

as fire, 

i am addicted to burning

for a living

as fire, 

i find you enticing

my darling
as something combustible
i love you,
as something like meaning
i need you,

as something inside me

yearning,

i miss you

but as fire, 

i am addicted to burning

undiscerning

indiscriminate 

i am sure of it,

you were right to leave

and you are right to stay

away,

though it hurts me

. . . justifiably  

so i know this,

that i deserve that

as an idiot 

high on fire

and stupid things

i deserve all of it

every single piece of this

my just dessert. . .

                              it was always to burn 

all alone with a brilliant audience. . .
