We shape ourselves, sub consciously, consciously, from past experiences, using both good and bad to hopefully make us a better person.I've tried this as a father, being to my daughter all that I would have wanted from my old man if he had bothered to stick around.

It's hard to make a better world for our kids if we don't know enough about stepping in our own s**t so we can properly tell them how and why to avoid stepping in it themselves.

It's been some time since we've interreacted Mr Gee. I miss your delightfully powerful insights.

Mother gave up the ghost on life so have been coming to terms with being an adult orphan, a strange feeling :)

I'm sorry to hear that Gee. The world became a slightly worse place that day she passed... but she did a lovely job of raising you and that is something that will carry on for as long as there's humans on this earth.

I keep forgetting who said this... "you're always alive for as long as someone remembers you". I'd take it a step further and say, a person is alive as long as their progeny survives. Your children and their children and their children etc... it's a cultural evolution as well as a biological evolution. Your mom is still alive in that way... just like you will survive long after you're dead.

Thank you. Mum is in a far better place now as she had zero quality of life due to illness and age. Her grand kids and great grand kids will keep her memory alive for many a year :)
It seems a lifetime ago that she passed yet it is only 5 weeks, weird that..

That's that whole relativity thing in action (the cultural one not the physics one). Einstein said it best... “Put your hand on a hot stove for a minute, and it seems like an hour. Sit with a pretty girl for an hour, and it seems like a minute. That's relativity.” S****y feelings always feel more permanent than they really are; they have too much gravity.

Good thing is it drives home now lucky we are with the love and friendship that is present in our lives, that which we take for granted.
I'm fortunate to have some very loyal, loving friends and a wife and child that are nothing but beautiful.

I like this one. It has breath and balance. That makes me go beyond thinking. I would say this is a happy poem. Where we see how life has changed us.

Anyway, happy is a relative term. Some are more happy to be unhappy and I think they balance out those are only happy to be happy. An eternal pessimist would be truly lost without the eternal optimist.

That's why I don't believe in regrets. The things we did in the past really shape us to what we are today- stronger and persistent.

Me too. Kind of. I believe in regrets because they are teachers and they keep us honest going forward. I have a certain tenacity that is tempered by my regrets, they refine my drive to not be lessened by my mistakes but more useful to the world going forward because of them. Some people call it maturity but, I will always be pretty immature so they call all go fug themselves... it's more fun this way as long as you're not unethical.
