As for reality, I'm sure that we are in a fallen world. I merely hope for it to get better. Besides the internet, which gives me endless reading material and a few key moments to connect with like-minded individuals, I wish I was in past aeons. That is where I would perhaps function best. Then again, I don't believe I possess the ability to know such a fact.
Things do not last, for this is true. Change dictates all matter, and all objects can be corrupted. The state of such shapeless mass such as gas is even subject to change.

The internet is one of those 'yin and yang' things. It can be the solution to some of your problems as well as the cause of some of your problems. Or, maybe just a place to order food through and look at weird taboo porn with.
Studying philosophy is for pretentious a******s... but reading philosophy will show you things in a way you never knew existed. The difference is subtle, between just the reading and the studying, but it is very real. Treat them all like story tellers, not social scientists and you will get a whole lot more out them.

in those times we were prey
Those two lines conjured up all sorts of images of early man and their fight for survival. Then my thought process continued to present times and all I could think of is nothing's changed. People are still prey today, and in a far worse way. Modern day slavery a blight upon our times and the pack mentality that is still with us and always will be.
I like the poem but I find it terrifying to think we might live on some predetermined timeline in which events in our lives are destined or preprogrammed. The simulation theory is rather terrifying. I love sci-fi movies on the subject but if I ever where given the choice between red pill vs blue pill, I'm really not sure which I'd take. Ignorance is bliss but truth is like a highly addictive drug.

If you really wanna feel depressed... the fact that we've been able to simulate things with exponentially increasing detail makes it increasing likely that things are very, very likely to be a simulation already. A simulation within a simulation within a simulation etc, etc, ad nauseum... it might even be the key to immortality. It hurts my brain to think about this.

I cannot disagree with you there. It's a terrifying concept.
The negative past that lies in our minds can indeed impact our future. Often today's mistakes are the product of unresolved past pain. Our tomorrows will be no different until we deal with it.
