The Ballad of Nights Darkness and Days Light

The Ballad of Nights Darkness and Days Light

A Poem by Gregory Stires
"

A poem about two lovers one of night and the other of day.

"
Two lovers,

One of day other of night,

They desired to see each other,

Nights heart ached to see his lover

The beautiful Day,

Her golden tan skin,

Long wavy golden sunlit hair,

A golden dress she wore,

Necklace made from the stars,

Gift from her lover

The Night,

His hair as black as

The darkness of night,

Cold pale skin,

Silver eyes he shared with his sister

Thee moon,

Wearing a tux of the color onyx,

Only once will the two lovers see each other,

That is when day turns to night

And night turns to day,

So the lovers wait till day meets the darkness of night

And night meets the light of day.

It's such a beautiful poem. I love this line "Necklace made from the stars." I loved it because I love stars, they are kind of my thing and I could just imagine a necklace of real stars, that would be pretty. I love all of the descriptive words as well, the imagery is amazing.

Star crossed lovers to be sure . cant think of anything harder to take than to be in love with one you cannot have . We see this alot in indian culture when the family chooses a girls husband to the chagrin of the man she loves. In the states we believe in love in india they believe more in society .

This reminds me of tragic love stories in Greek mythology and I wonder if there's an original version of this?
