See My Flaming Heart

See My Flaming Heart

A Poem by Livy S Palmer
"

For you, who knows not who I am.

"
I see you through the window
Or in the corridor.
You walk by oblivious
As my eyes look to the floor.
Your smile: I think its precious -
It brings out your auburn hair.
And it makes me want to speak to you,
But my mouth would never dare.

When you do acknowledge me:
My chest, it burns inside;
But you have all the boys' attention
And that makes me want to hide.
Though, now I must be honest,
I wish you'd smile at me
The way you smile at your friends -
For I'm consumed in jealousy.

When I did, for the first time, notice you,
I felt your pale warmth.
Somehow I was emblazoned,
And dreamed of you thenceforth.
You eyes: azure, chameleon;
They make me feel so poor.
I think the Queen de Leon
Could not compare at all.

Might you ever wish to know my love?
I wonder all the time.
Could you, temptress, adore me,
After hearing this weak rhyme?
Could I, enslaved, implore you
To meet me in my wake?
To save me from my sake?
To be my flaming heart?
