Death of a Civilization

Death of a Civilization

A Poem by Sarah Jean
"

The archaic battle between humanity and nature, made futile by our own hand.

"
Longevity short lived, progress turned to dust, the power of a once great city lies dormant in its ashes.
Abandoned pillars stand jagged and short, archaic reminders of a civilization lost.
Rubble swallowed by dirt and dust,
Wind rushing in and out of empty spaces, picking up and blowing in circles the crusted fallen leaves that cover the ancient debris in a blanket of lost time.
A still and eerie picture of a dead city forever frozen in its destruction.

Amidst the rubble, a posthumous green leafy stem claws its way up from the dust.
Stout in its demeanour, unflinching in its resolve, hope stands alone.

That's an Incredible write of the day. Liked the theme, the concept and the whole structure of the write. The idea's generated not from your mind but from your eyes, from your heart what you'd seen, what you'd felt about that... Very beautiful piece. Well, yeh, at an extent i love knowing more about Ancient times... but yet i don't have any book reading history if old time...But i think after read this piece. I should have to buy some books of ancient times where i could know more about that time.

"Death Of A Civilization" This tittle's enough to say what you said. Your thoughts're powerful and great i must say bcoz, i didn't read yet such a nice piece on such a "Civilization". This's a new time and a new generation.. No one cares about past... no one cares about that old time but such kinda great writers as you are "Sarah" force us ... force me to read... to know more about that civilization...our civilization.
I think you've a great knowledge in this field... i hope you've too many books too at yur home Library to read.

The idea i think came from your own thoughts.. or may be from there from where you got something about it. Very powerful write. You have to write something more on it..even i'd like to say, your skills in this field're awesome and great so, i'd wish to read your some more nice stuffs very soon as you post.
Well penn'd, don't give up... keep on ! :)

powerful last two lines they are what gives the poem meaning its that last bit of hope that we need to hold onto as tiny and insignificant as it may seem its something to hold onto

Like roses in concrete... all civilizations are meant to fall... and others to rise... there should be no reason why the green leafy stem is there... but who are we to say... We are our own self destruction... Only to error and learn to move forth for a way of life we hope reaches peace and guides us closer to utopia...

Thank you very much :)
After the calm of the storm, the dust settles, and we discover what is left. A civilization may appear to be totally destroyed, but in the end, there is hope that rises from the dust. It is up to us to grasp that tiny bit of hope and rebuild that which shall rise again! It is somewhat of a cycle as that which is built shall eventually fall again. But, we are the stewards of mankind and must ever forge on!
A very interesting write - similar to some of my words of mankind's view of Mother Earth.......this reminds me I have a poem in draft that I must finish that speaks of the ashes of destruction!
I really like your thoughts and the message they bring to us!

This reminds me of mc carthys post apocalyptic novel the road :)
It's bleak and hostile
However there's a chance of redemption and being alive again.

A very dark poem but realistic on the condition of humanity and its befalls but with a great glimer of hope at the end...Bravo

Oh, I really really enjoy your talent for imagery! I felt like I could literally reach out and grasp a handful of crumbled buildings.
I thought of Chernobyl when I read this, but I can see it being fitting for Rome and so many other places across the world.
As I said before, you really have a talent, and definitely a lovely way of making people engage in your writing and remain captivated.
Thank you so much for posting, and I look forward to reading more from you. :)
