Purpose

Purpose

A Poem by Lucy
"

I wrote this my freshman year of high school for a poem portfolio. My inspiration came from realizing that "surface" and "purpose" rhyme.

"

The shining stars look down on me

To remind me where I came from

The hollow spaces in between

Show me that my life’s not done

The gleaming ocean calls to me

To show me a reflection

Of a fated destiny

That will lead to my conclusion

The roaring waves crash silently

To break above the surface

Never knowing what lies beneath

Every life has a purpose

I'm not much of a poet, but I'd like to know what you think.
