Crow Watch

Call of the crow, what do you seek?

Balancing on tree top, circling your domain,

Scaring away all your, tiny counterparts,

Of their delightful song.

You hover in twos, fighting in threes,

Your feathers reflect, Sapphire blue.

As you circumnavigate

Stately mansions, on their pristine fine ground.

We do not know what it’s like to roost,

As a member of the passerines,

On balanced bough, of a centuries old tree.

Your black silhouette displaying razor like wings,

Mistaken as a raven or rook on sight.

Do you really sit on barren soil?

When the farmers have ploughed their land?

Stealing his seed, prodding his soil,

Or are you just of small mind to gather?

A tribe of large birds who bully, and blabber.

Or do you sit alone as an outline?

Bordering alongside the sunset unrestricted,

From the planet as we perceive it,

Your outlook on top of the world.
