I will break free ... From the pain ... That breaks my soul

Domestic violence

Its not a funny thing

It something that hurts

It something that pains

 

When you think of it

You think bruises

You think visible scars

You think shattered blood

 

But what about the other kind

The kind of violence that is not visible

The one you can’t see with the eyes

The one that is hidden deeP inside

 

The one that destroys you

EmotionaLly not physically

The one that breaks your spirit

Not the one that breaks for face

 

Verbal abuse

Can we consider that

DomEstic violence

Its abuse, isn't it

 

Yelling and fighting

Words that bruise

Isn't that Abuse

Isn't that just as violent

 

Maybe because its not phySical

That's why its not abuse

But to the one being hurt

Its just as bad

 

It brings you down

You feel worthless

Not good enough

It makes you valuEless

 

How different then is it

Physical abuse to verbal abuse

There is still hurt

There is still pain

 

You know one difference

Physical abuse can be seen

It is easier to detect

It is easier to give a helping hand

 

Verbal abuse cannot be seen

The pain is Hidden inside

How can someone tell

Not until it has destroyed them

 

Verbal abusE destroys the mind

It destroys your spirit

It destroys your heart

It destroys you nonetheless

 

So walk away from either abuse

Neither are healthy

Neither are safe

I wilL break free

 

From the abuse

The painful words

From the Pain

That breaks my soul

emotional violence, i believe its worse than physical, if that could be, you really narrow
the feeling down, defining the reaction to such cause, your writing paints the disturbing
image of domestic abuse with powerful, heartfelt, effect, its really as sad topic, yet your
poem casts a light of awareness on the dark aspects

Every hurt can be forgiven but not hurt feeling. Even though not in verbal abuse you can get hurt, Not because of the bruise , but the way it was bruised. Thanks for sharing.

Subliminal message. Neat. I like the points you bring up in this. It's in face one of the issues I wish was addressed more in the world. There's so many people focusing on physical but they're leaving behind the emotional kind, too.

It's true not many people think of verbal abuse and it is just as bad. It can sometimes cause the same outcome as well if the person receiving the abuse decides to commint suicide...great write, it gives everyone something to think about.
