Hope in the rubble

Inspired by a quote and a picture.

In the light of the darkness.

 In the song of the silence.

In the rising from the ashes.

 That's the hope in the rubble.

When a child in war time is saved.

 When the mute man writes a book that changes lives.

That is the beauty in the sham.

  After the floodwaters recede and the corps grow strong.

After the fire neighbours learn to get along.

  After a solider falls so hundreds stop the war.

That is the love in darkness.

 That is life.

 

 

With all it's sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.

First time I have ever written a poem that didn't rhyme.....I think I will stick to rhyming 0_e.

I've read a number of your poems, and this one that "didn't rhyme" is my favorite by far! This is an astute observation of life. The title prompted me to think of Christchurch, though I have never been to NZ.
