Colours

Colours

A Poem by lovejulez03
"

Take it as you will. This is mixture of what I felt as a teen, trying to find my identity and what I feel now with everything going on in the world.

"

If white is the absence of light

And black is the absence of color

Then what am I?

What am I?

Do I not bleed?

Do I not see?

Do I not love?

Do I not breathe?

Every step that I take

I feel glass under my feet

Toe heel. Heel Toe.

No silence. Nowhere to go.

I can’t seem to remember

The last time I looked at myself

And  didn’t cringe

I can’t seem to remember

The last time I looked at the news

Without becoming unhinged

I can’t remember the last time I saw color

Or the last time I saw light

And I wonder… in the darkness of my mind…

...With only a cigarette left and clock without time…

What am I?

Am I worth it?

What am I?

Do I deserve this?

What am I?

Am I everything or am I nothing?

What am I?

This peeling and scrubbing reveals nothing.

No matter what people say, you have to learn to appreciate yourself first.
Know that you have Creator who is the greatest artist of all time. He created apples red, green, yellow... all the colourful flowers of the field; the various animals and their kind and species; the various colourful vegetables; and, of course, the various human complexions. Yet, all these colourful elements of nature exist in harmony.
And that is something to celebrate.
Only ignorance and lack of knowledge make people hate things or people they don't understand.
I thank God everyday for my uniqueness as an African man.

Be proud of what the Creator made you.

WELL DONE!

I personally feel that this poem said to me that you are Someone who not only knows *who She is but is proud of who she is. What you are viewed as is based on the circumstances they see you *going through*, On lookers can see you a lot of different ways. Powerful is what you are, Powerful enough to make it through. Thank you for writing this one. It takes more strength total a step back and ask the right questions than it does to answer them.
