Riding with the Masons

My wife was at girl scout camp with my daughter. My son and dog at the in-laws the night before the Hess ride. I sat in my garage working and cleaning my bike Elf. About midnight all was ready and I went to bed.

I honestly thought I would lie in bed, nervous about the upcoming ride, and not be able to sleep. However, I fell right to sleep.

It struck me, that no matter how much time you get to be alive, it all seems awfully short. We all only have a finite amount of moments, and what we do with them is completely up to us.

^ Damn. This piece is powerful in its simplicity. We can see the story but also feel the blend of emotions of the freedom of the road. I don't have a motorcycle, but I've done my fair share of very long drives and there is something about it that's beyond words. Well done.

This was an interesting read, when I owned a bike years ago, most of my rides we solo as well, so I felt that part when you described it very well.

"We pulled into a cemetery to honor a young boy who had lost his battle with cancer. The ride was for the Hess foundation, a group that helps people after they have lost a child to cancer"
Here in Michigan. I have friends who ride with good men who will protect family and their soldier at funerals against protestors. I like when good people gather as one and know friendship of the road and life. Thank you for sharing the outstanding story. Made me wish for time, bike and highway.

It sounds like a really great ride. You got a chance to think some things out and make friends too. I would rather ddo thngs alone myself, but that's not always a good idea...

Your story really got me thinking about why I write. I feel like I have so much pressure on me to get my stuff out there, but I forget that that I write for the sheer enjoyment of it, and to share my experiences with others. Nobody really knows how much time they have left. We shouldn't waste our lives on frivolous activities. We should focus on our goals, and dreams, before it is too late. I think that is great that you are
helping out with all these charities. That's going to a noble cause.
