A Poem by lynnsl

We’re broken at last,

We've broken the bond we thought would last

Were separate, always in each other’s past

We let it fall apart so fast.

On Monday, together forever we would say

Come Friday suddenly such a different day

How did a year fall in just a week?

Each other’s worlds, now we don’t even speak

You have your new group, and I’ve found mine

Within a few days, our lives aren't intertwined

You don’t seem to care, you’re barely hanging on

And if I wait around you’ll soon be gone

The warmth we had has just turned cold

And everything just feels so old

What’s dead is dead, what’s gone is gone

No more of our off and on

I don't even know you anymore, where are you?

You don't even see me anymore, do you feel it too?

It seems it’s all or nothing, it’s always something

No more jealousy or angry words, No more fighting will be heard

No more lying and no more hurt, this just isn’t going to work

I guess it’s our final good-bye, as we both let go

Now we won’t ever know,

If it could have been something more

Because we've shut the door

We’re broken.
