The Clock Tower

The Clock Tower

A Poem by Czar Lyrus
"

A short sonnet that I wrote after thinking of Ultimecia's Castle

"

At night, I always glance up at the keep,

It’s iron arms whirling forever.

The bell heralding the coming of sleep,

A stone pillar, our town’s clock tower.

Its gears are running, perpetually

Never missing the angle of the sun

Keeping the hustle on time, completely

Running our bustle from dusk ‘til dawn

Think of no tower, ever so pretty…

Chaos and despair would befall the town!

Without time, there is no security,

No keeper will cause the king to loose his crown.

Be thankful the next time you look at time,

It’s never ending movements are sublime.

No question about it, Czar, you know well how to pen sonnets, one of my favorite forms!

Very nicely written! This piece was just filled with great imagery...a visual explosion, so to speak. The flow and verse was also really nicely done, as the rhyming did not seem forced in the least. Bravo!
