Mom

Mom

A Poem by Maddy

I know some girls who say

That you’re the best

At the end of any day

For me it’s a different situation

Even if I am your creation

Every day we go through another test

And you know our relationship is a mess

But that doesn't make me love you any less

You’re there for me when I’m in need

Of love or just a simple smile

But no matter how hard I try

We still keep on this fight

It doesn't help that you pry

You just have to keep in sight

If I don’t always treat you fair

It doesn't mean that I don’t care

You almost never approve

Of how I walk or how I look

But I know it’s who you are

I never know what to say when we speak

The unease makes me so weak

You think you’re never wrong, always right

It’s time for you to see the light

Girls everywhere talk about their mom

How they can say or do anything

Without judgement and their mom’s still care

I don’t think that it’s unfair

Just because it’s not like that between us

It’s more like a ticking bomb

When we’re together just waiting to explode

I really wish that we were better friends

But you and I are both to blame

We both misunderstand

And we refuse to accept a hand

But I still respect the person you are

If you believe me or not

You just have to learn to let go

And let me be free

I’m not a kid anymore
