I bought a T-shirt

I bought a T-shirt

A Poem by MM.P
"

Something that had been running through my head relating to all the political events happening in our nation. Not looking for a debate, just something i wanted to put out.

"

I bought a T-shirt

The world is falling apart

People have lost their homes

Clean water has vanished

Food, clothes, essentials all sparse " nowhere in sight

I don’t know how to help

So, I bought a T-shirt

“Texas Forever”

The proceeds go to hurricane relief

I made a difference

What kind? Well, I’m not sure

I bought a T-shirt

They said it would help

“Choose Kindness”

Shooters enter a school " children die

I made a difference

Spread kindness, they said

Maybe if we were more kind,

He would have never entered that day

I made a difference, I said

What kind?

The kind that’s posted on social media

Word of mouth is powerful

But where does the money go? Who does it help?

Well, I’m not sure

“End It Movement”

Slavery is real. Modern day.

I put a red X on my hand, over my mouth

I hashtag a filtered photo

I’m helping, I made a difference

But, they asked, to who?

“Black Lives Matter”

“All Lives Matter”

“Women’s Rights”

“Equal Rights”

“Feminism”

“Hands Up”

I made a difference

I didn’t engage in political rallies

I didn’t engage in political poles

I didn’t engage in conversations on Facebook

I didn’t engage in conversations with my friends

I didn’t engage in… anything

But, I bought a T-shirt

A point well made. Tokenism drives me crazy, too. But I didn't buy a T-shirt. I wrote some nasty rhymes! :D
I really enjoyed this. It is bitter, twisted and cuts to the bone. Very in keeping with the times in which we live. I look forward to your next volley!

Sums it all up in a neat tidy package. A homage to those amongst us who pay lip service to the realities of the world, 'I bought a T-shirt'. Excellent.

Arm chair activism at it's finest.

There's this one dude who is always saying things like "how about before you go out and attempt to change the world, you clean up your living room first..."

I'd be president if I could ever get my garage uncluttered enough to park my car in first.

I hear ya! Thanks for reading!
frustration is witnessed in all the words, I am not sure if I have to write a review about the ideology behind the poem or only the syntax of the poem. I think you elaborated some movements, and how they are just idealistic but not real moves, but buying a t-shirt could make a difference. I mean, every vig movement starts from tiny changes. So, maybe you could write another one about keep doing the good work even if it sounds not effective?
