IMITATIO DEI

IMITATIO DEI

A Poem by Anthony M Smith Jr
"

Imitating God

"

Civilized worlds are full of the righteous,
where rulers are inconspicuous,
alone they wonder of their notions,
wary of wards with devotions,
anticipating the mansions built with wealth!
Concocting theories by self imposed scholars,
who discard their collars!
The elite create acts of defiance,
in which they create science!

Dear friend manyantlers,

Ha-Ho!

My, such a powerful topic: "Imitating God". If done with best intentions this can be a boon and bring great things to mankind. In almost all religions we are instructed how to be more God-like, to love, to be giving. However it can be taken much too far. One can start to FEEL God-like, rather than just striving for the ideal. I sincerely hope Man will always strive to rise above ourselves without succumbing to vainity and self-importance.

Wonderful poem, my friend. Peace and health to you and your loved ones!

Best regards,

Rick

Your poem is a powerful and thought-provoking commentary on the nature of power and privilege in modern society. The vivid imagery of "civilized worlds" and "self-imposed scholars" creates a sense of both cynicism and urgency, while the use of rhyme and alliteration adds a touch of playfulness. Your words convey a sense of frustration at the inequalities and injustices that exist in the world, and the final line, "in which they create science," is both striking and challenging. Your poem is a testament to the power of language to provoke thought and inspire change.

Dear Kunu,

Looking again at your words and Learning, My Friend.

Yes, the "civilized world" is still learning because at it core it is conceited. We think we know all. Well we don't. Still if we can be open-mined and maintain objectivity, perhaps we might succeed. Time will tell.

Wow! Powerful indeed. The sad truth I see is that rather than imitating God, mankind has for centuries tried to create God in their own image. Thus, men/women from all walks of life and all professions have become puffed up with pride and conceit. Vanity can lead many into a lot of untruth.

I think this is the first poem of yours that I have read. You have penned it well. Thanks for sharing, my friend.

yes, we create our gods in our own image, and our devils too...fortunately, some of us have slipped the bonds, and have created other gods... it warms my heart to think of you as brother...Ed
