All is Well *

A Poem by Mariah
"

Dedicated to David Roy, my best friend, and all the firefighters. :)

"

It's funny how one day a fire can be a beautiful thing

sitting warm by the fireplace

listening to the crackling of the logs sing

and then the next day it can all change

the crackles become cries of innocent lives

and the smoke fading in the air is like watching

spirit after spirit rise

one person's fun can lead to a million's loss

but for that moment, you let go of your fears,

for that moment, you hold back your tears

because you know that you will bring smiles

to another face coming out

[with blacks soot on yours]

you watch a family reunite

walking away hand in hand, as yours,

wipes the sweat off your brow, the tears from your eyes,

[they're flowing now]

a job well done and all is right

i hope you have sweet dreams tonight

because you know you made a difference in someone else's life

even if you try with all you have and lose a life,

know that you have gained

[look up at the sky]

they're smiling down

sending their thanks

a stranger who cares

maybe this world isn't such a bad place,

[after all]

so never feel unappreciated

it's amazing, [what you do]

where you get the courage,

i wish i knew

but all i do know is,

my hat goes off to you.

-Thanks.

Very Beautiful, this piece really shows you have a kind heart within you. I really like your style of writing, the brackets just add on to the effect of emotions and compassion in your poems. Keep writing.

This is beautiful my friend, and a perfect tribute to a very heroic man. I am glad that you wrote this, the world needs to hear these things and think about them. So many people risk their lives everyday for people they don't know... They deserve to be honored.

Love,
Stephanie
